----- Sample Annual costs:  US $ 4,999.00- refundable, based on Vref value of the airplane

----- Sample Monthly Dues: US $     85.00

----- Sample Flying, wet/hr: US $     77.00 ( depends on aircraft )

                            Make the math:  4x flying/mo= ~ US $ 400.00 total, 48hrs/yr= ~ US $ 4,800.

                            Depending on the type of aircraft used, at 120knots=more than 5500 miles!

Compare to...:

- Golf memberships, non-refundable joining fee US $2-4,000.00, with monthly dues anywhere from US $ 300.00 upwards.

- Own a boat? What do you pay for dock space/ storage fee? Marina dock space per anno in general starts at US $ 3,000.00. What do you pay on top for winterizing your yacht? What about fuel consumption- 1mpG for a 30 ft cruiser at 75% throttle!

- Ski trip to the West for four persons-  driving ( sometimes for more than 10 hrs? ) or airline tickets, then lodging and food...lets say, for + US $ 4,000.00?

- Your daughter is an avid horse fan- add all veterinarian bills together, care , barn and food- why one horse powere when compared to 100+ horse powers?

Insurance thoughts for food:

- 3-20+ pilots per airplane

- aircraft generally are equity owned

- holding company/LLC

- sufficient insurance to cater for the club member who needs greatest protection

- make/model of aircraft/insurance coverage limit needed ( aircraft value and liability limits )/ number of members per aircraft/ ratings/experience/claim experience per member/ aircraft location ( hangared or tied down )/ expanded coverage needed ( club house/hangar protection/aviation event and contest coverage/ extra equipment/tools etc ). Retractable gear or high performance aircraft/ club owned airfield= significant cost drivers...

Sample insurance calculation: C172 at $50,000. Hangared. 3 Pilots ( lowest pilot has 100 hrs ). Assuming liability limits of $1Mio each occurrence/ $100,000 per pax, full ground and full hull insurance, NEW Club: ~ $800-850 for the first year, which equates to roughly $25/member/month. Per addtl. pilot this sample rate will further drop.
