BASIC BODY KNOWLEDGE- Fat or Energy, what shall I eat and what will I get??

 

Where does our body get the energy from?

--- in form of Fat or Glucose. For example if you eat Carbs, Glucose is extracted as the source of energy.

Your Brain needs what?

--- the brain needs glucose. If the brain is deprived from glucose, it needs another source of food...more later. However, if your brain get no glucose for greater than 24-72 hours, it becomes very dangerous for your brain with death more than 100% likely!

What does your Pancreas produce?

--- The critical INSULINE-and more. Insuline helps store sugar as fat, which WILL explain your potential situation: are you insuline " sensitive ", "dependent" or "resistant"? What is your Insuline / Glucose level in your blood?

What can I do to find out your current state of energy available?

--- DEXA scan, Hydrostatic test, VO2 Max testing, Accumeasure Fitness 3000 device

Vary your sports

 

-- I swim two/three times a week, I run twice a week, I bicycle once- as a variety add spinning, water zumba, step hill runs.

-- Every morning 40 push ups ( streching opposite arm and leg ), and 40 sit ups to "wake up". You can modify the push ups utilizing a Bosu ball ( upside down, graping the sides only ). The sit-ups: avoid "pocket knife" snaps which will damage the lower L5S1 region and more. Instead, opposite elbow meets opposite knee: hands behind your head, pull up and also pull up the legs individually like bicycling,,,

-- Alternate Pull-ups and Chin-ups.

-- Row row row a boat, gentle down the stream...

-- Use Kettlebell and do Overhead presses

-- Kettlebell swings

-- Kettlebell or Medicine ball deadlifts

-- Squat(s) your figure!

-- At the end of the run, do walking lunges to stretch the core further

-- still not exhausted? Go get a Battle rope and swing it wildly until your arms fall off!

Basic Sports-nutrition guidelines

 

1. Eat often- what about five happy helpings per day? Nuts and fruits should top your menu. If you can't manage five helpings per day, then try to eat three healthy meals!

2. Eat Slow- the longer you chew, the more you will satisfy and STILL your hunger.

3. Carbs, Carbs, Carbs: in the morning a bowl full of fresh quick instant Oat meal- in MILK! not water. Add blueberries or bananas, strawberries and blackberries. At lunch time, load up that salad bar plate, make sure to include spinach, broccoli, sunflowerseeds, carrots- fresh- make your own dresing with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For dinner, it depends what you want to do next day: Spaghetti is always an option, or sweet potatoes with either fish or chicken. Red meat is ok, but not every day!

4. Protein is next: there is quinoa, yoghurt, tunafish, cheese- enjoy!

5. After workout gulp&chew: a quick protein bar with magnesium infused mineral water/ or applejuice-mineral water mix will prevent muscle spasms and microtears: soar muscles the next morning!

6. ALWAYS think FRESH, not processed food! Processed food include preservatives and additives, and  will mess with your blood sugar sooner or later, resulting in less energy and strenght.

7. Aloe Vera is a power house and re-energizer!

8. Don't like it? Try the "Paleo Diet" Approach: eat and train primally ( embrace animal fats, no grains, little carbs ): gain strenght without gaining weight, train your body to run on fat as "the" fuel source: result is to maintain high level of testosterone. Consider Coconut oil, avocados, eggs, almonds, chicken, beef jerky, string beans, onions, protein powder)

10. YOUR BODY'S PH balance- are you defeating your lactic acids or not? You want to be balanced between an acidic and alkaline body, preferrably slightly alkaline. Confused?

-- Acidicy= yummy stuff= proteins, sugars, alcohol; Alkalizing food= high in potassium, calcium and magnesium ( veggies!!!!). Check your lactate state before you exercise: Litmus Paper strips from the local health food store...
